The Honeywood Residents Group Inc has been an incorporated association since 11th December 2014. The group was initially incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act 1987.
Effective July 2016 there are new requirements for the management of an association as part of the new Associations Incorporation act of 2015. The Honeywood Residents group has taken steps to ensure that it’s immediate obligations under this new Act are being met and that we are fulfilling the requirements during the transition period allowed under the new legislation. A revised version of the constitution was approved by Special Resolution on the 30th August 2017, and has been submitted to the Department of Commerce for review.
The Honeywood Residents Group decided to incorporate for a number of reasons:
- Incorporation allows us to apply for grants from organisations such as Lottery West, Neighbourhood Watch and City of Kwinana for community events and initiatives.
- We are able to open and maintain bank accounts in the name of the association in order to manage financial aspects of the group
- It was important for us to obtain public liability insurance as a group so that we can hold fundraising events and BBQs.
- Deciding to incorporate allows us to hold property and assets to assist us in carrying out our objectives and fundraising efforts.
